Session 4: Instructions to Resume Writing and Online Discussion

This week we will focus on efforts on our last course objective:

• Assess and analyze their personality, interests, skills, and values to identify key

            psychological characteristics whose integration into career and life planning is

            essential to the pursuit of a fulfilling and satisfying life.

• Relate knowledge gained about psychological and emotional development theory with his/her personal decision about a career.
• Examine and interpret current career/life planning literature and resources and

            synthesize with sociological trends imparting individual life choices.

• Evaluate and prioritize occupational options employing information gathered through self-assessment and career research.
• Make career/life planning decisions which lead to a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle.
• Create a cover letter, resume, and prepare for a variety of interview styles.

The goal of this session is to create a resume that will grab the interviewer’s attention and hopefully move your application to the top of the list.

Process:

1. Listen to the podcast or read the document.
2. Go back to the three careers you previously selected as interesting and worth pursuing.
3. Create a resume for one of the three careers.
4. Post your resume on your blog.
5. Post a summary on your reason(s) for your design/outline of your resume.
6.  Critique your peers' resume.

Requirements:

            (Maximum word count per post is 250)

1. Post the resume on your blog (Due Tuesday, November 19).
2. Post a summary on your reason(s) for your design/outline of your resume. (Due Tuesday, November 19).
3. Critique three other student’s resume and respond with what you found interesting about the resume and why. Then, write one suggestion your classmate can make to improve their resume. (Due Sunday, November 24).

This week your discussion will be evaluated using the following rubric:
